Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2. Make the Cake:

a. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

b. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

c. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

g. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

3. Make the Frosting:

a. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.

b. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.

c. Add the milk and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.

4. Decorate the Cake:

a. Trim the tops of the cooled cakes to create a flat surface.

b. Place one cake layer on a serving platter and spread a layer of frosting on top.

c. Place the second cake layer on top and cover the entire cake with a thin layer of frosting, creating a crumb coat. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

d. Divide the remaining frosting into bowls and tint them with desired food colors, reserving some for the details.

e. Remove the cake from the refrigerator and frost the entire cake with the colored frostings, creating a smooth surface.

f. Roll out the fondant and cut out cat ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. Attach them to the cake using a little frosting.

g. Use edible black gel or icing to add details such as whiskers and pupils.

5. Serve and Enjoy:

Allow the cake to set in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before serving. Slice and enjoy your adorable cat-shaped cake!
